Set of 6 mushroom glasses, Johanna Jelinek, IKEA Vintage, Sweden.
A mushroom reimagined in glass. They evoke the forest floor, the surreal domestic landscape.
Red captured in transparency, a chromatic pulse hovering above the table.
Johanna Jelinek’s design for IKEA transforms the archetype of the mushroom — Amanita muscaria — into six hand-blown vessels, red caps balanced on lucid stems, part object, part apparition.
Each piece is mouth-blown, its colour not applied but born within the glass itself. The result is a form that feels both organic and precise — red caps hovering on lucid stems, somewhere between tableware and micro-architecture.
Placed together, they resemble a small constellation of fungi translated into architecture — miniature organisms of glass and light, transmitting warmth through reflection. Utility becomes gesture; design becomes a study in vibration, gravity, and presence.
