Pair of large Murano glass lamps by Vistosi, Italy, 1970s.
Two monumental presences in glass — luminous sculptures crafted by Vistosi in Murano during the 1970s. Here, the lamp ceases to be a mere functional object and becomes atmospheric architecture: a cylinder that breathes light, where white opaline merges with transparency in a continuous visual flow.
The soft circular expansions of colour resemble astronomical phenomena captured in glass — eclipses arrested, tides frozen, reflections that dissolve the boundary between the solid and the immaterial. Each lamp reveals subtle variations of blown glass and unique transitions, as if it had absorbed a singular instant of time and kept it suspended within.
Together, they form a luminous landscape of rarity and force. They do not simply illuminate: they transform space, establishing an ambience that oscillates between the cosmic and the intimate. These are objects inhabiting the frontier between sculpture, design, and natural phenomenon — pieces where matter becomes experience.
A testimony to how Vistosi’s Murano reinvented light in that decade: poetry in glass, gravity turned into atmosphere.
