Brutalist set of 6 sculptural glasses in textured neodymium glass, Italy, 1970s.
A set of six mid-century Italian glasses, handblown in textured neodymium glass — where radical form meets chromatic subtlety.
With square bases that dissolve into rounded rims, these glasses are small-scale architectural volumes. Their surfaces are defined by a pronounced, almost brutalist relief that refracts light with sensual irregularity. The transition from square to circle is not merely functional but poetic — an act of visual tension softened by touch.
This particular set leans towards the warmer spectrum of neodymium glass, with tones of lilac and blush that become especially vivid under natural light. Under cooler lighting, they retain a hint of blue, but the dominant impression is one of soft radiance — a rare variation within this material typology, made possible by subtle differences in neodymium concentration.
Equal parts vessel and light-reactive sculpture.
